Matthew Robinson


Independent Non-Executive Chairman (Appointed in 2016)

Matthew has spent much of his career in the growth company arena, with 18 years’ experience in mining and resources. He spent 15 years to 2015 as a Corporate Finance Director at finnCap and Panmure Gordon/Durlacher. During this time, he was responsible for establishing finnCap and Panmure Gordon’s mining and resources investment businesses, in addition to his role as adviser to AIM and Official List companies on the London Stock Exchange. Moving to the nascent finnCap in 2006, Matthew was instrumental in its rapid growth which saw it become the largest nominated adviser and broking firm, by number of clients, on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market.

Training as a Chartered Accountant, Matthew began his career at Binder Hamlyn and Touche Ross, the predecessor firm of Deloitte, before founding a business consultancy specialising in corporate turnarounds. He spent several years as the Finance Director and Company Secretary of Internet Music Shop, one of the first online music retailers. During his time with the Company, Matthew managed its merger with European competitor Boxman.com, with turnover growing to over £12 million per annum, and was responsible for raising approximately £20 million of equity. Mathew chairs the Remuneration Committee of Goldplat PLC, which looks at Market norms regarding the remuneration of directors and the executive management team, and to make recommendations to the board, as well the Audit Committee, which is responsible for the planning of the annual audit and matters arising from the audit, and to report same verbally to the to the full board.

Werner Klingenberg


Chief Executive Officer (Appointed in 2017)

Werner joined Goldplat in 2015 as Group Financial Manager. Within this role he was integral in managing Goldplat’s financial and operational affairs. With his knowledge and understanding of the Group’s operations, he was appointed to the role of Group Finance Director in 2017 , following a period as interim CEO, was appointed Group CEO on a permanent basis in September 2019. Werner qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in South Africa and he has accrued significant commercial experience, both within Southern Africa and at a wider international level, initially working within the telecommunications and retail industries. His extensive knowledge spans audit and financial management and systems.

Martin Ooi


Non-Executive Director (Appointed in 2021)

A qualified medical doctor, Martin is an experienced entrepreneur and investor. He is the founder and Managing Director of the Serkona Group of private limited companies based in Australia with interests in multiple medical centres, commercial properties, and other unlisted assets. As a director of Goldplat PLC, he intends to focus on capital allocation decisions and helping to maximise the per-share intrinsic value of the company.

He is a member of the Remuneration Committee which looks at market norms regarding directors and executive remuneration for recommendation to the board.

Gerard Kisbey-Green


Non-Executive Director (Appointed in 2020)

Gerard has built an expansive career in the mining and related financial industry, spanning over 30 years. After graduating as a Mining Engineer in South Africa in 1987, he gained extensive experience working in various management positions for a number of the larger South African mining companies, including Rand Mines Group and the gold division of Anglo American Corporation. During this time he worked on gold, platinum and coal mines primarily in South Africa and also in Germany and Australia. Gerard subsequently spent 17 years in the financial markets, including five years as a mining equity analyst and 12 years in mining corporate finance. He has worked in South Africa and the UK for banks including JPMorganChase, Investec and Standard Bank. Gerard has extensive experience in IPOs, capital raisings, M&A transactions and deals covering a great diversity of commodities and geographic locations. He also has experience in Nominated Adviser,broker and advisory roles. He has worked extensively in Africa, particularly South Africa, Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Far East, Central Asia and North America. After returning to South Africa as a Managing Director with Standard Bank in 2009, Gerard left the banking industry and joined Peterstow Aquapower, a mining technology development company, as CEO in 2011, before accepting a position in 2012 with Aurigin Resources Inc., a privately-owned Toronto-based gold exploration company with assets in Ethiopia and Tanzania, as President and CEO. Gerard joined Goldplat plc as a Nonexecutive Director in 2014 and took over the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2015 a position a resigned from during 2019. He joined Goldplat Plc again as a Non Executive Director in May 2020.

Sango Ntsaluba


Non-Executive Director (Appointed in 2017)

Sango is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Aurelian Capital (Pty) Ltd, an investment holding company, which holds 9.37 percent interest in Goldplat Recovery (Pty) Ltd. He has built an illustrious career within South Africa, spanning over 30 years. This includes successfully co-founding what is now known as SNG-Grant Thornton, one of South Africa’s ‘Big 5’ accounting firms, as well as NMT Capital (Pty) Ltd, a diversified investment holding Group. Alongside a distinguished auditing career, Sango has extensive corporate experience in areas that include logistics and the automotive industry. He currently serves as an independent board member of Barloworld Limited, a leading global industrial company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (“JSE”), with responsibility for chairing the group’s audit committee. He also serves on the boards of JSE listed companies Kumba Iron Ore Limited, Pioneer Foods Group Limited, a producer and distributor of a range of branded food and beverage products. Sango is the Chairman of the board of Goldplat’s subsidiary, Goldplat Recovery (Pty) Ltd Sango has extensive experience in leadership positions in operations, investment, and finance.

Sango is a member of the Audit Committee of Goldplat PLC, which is responsible for the planning of the annual audit and matters arising from the audit, and to report verbally to the to the full board ahead of the Board approving the accounts for the year in relation to matters arising from the audit which have been raised by the auditors.

Stephen Ronaldson


(Appointed in 2005)

Stephen is a partner in Druces LLP’s Corporate & Commercial team, with over 30 years’ experience in corporate law with a particular expertise in the mining and oil and gas sectors. Stephen acts as company secretary for several publicly listed companies.

Esau Mokoteli


General Manager – Goldplat Recovery (Pty) Ltd (Appointed in 2016)

Esau is a Metallurgist with experience spanning over twenty years in the mining industry. Through his career he worked for several mining companies including two of the major gold mining companies in South Africa. As a plant manager, Esau was part of the team that successfully assisted Mine Waste Solutions the then subsidiary of First Uranium, which was later taken over by AngloGold Ashanti, through its transition into a high volume tailings re-treatment facility with over 1.8 million tonnes processed per month. Under AngloGold Ashanti, Esau went on to take up the responsibility of the Process Manager overseeing the Reclamation, Processing and Deposition activities of the Mine Waste Solutions complex. He was later made responsible, as a Process Manager, for Kopanang Gold Plant and West Gold Plant both processing low grade rock stockpiles. He joined Goldplat Recovery (Pty) Ltd in 2016 as a General Manager responsible for the day-to-day management of the operation.

Ayanda Ntsho


Group Financial Director Appointed May 2021

Ayanda has over 15 years' senior management experience spanning such industries as manufacturing (biotech, electronics, defence and armaments products), transport (aviation), higher education and consulting. He is a chartered accountant (SA) by training and holds an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch's Business School. He sits on various boards including chairing the University of Fort Hare's Accounting Department, as well as non-executive director, treasurer, and independent audit and risk committee member of various other organisations.

Filipe Alvarenga Araujo


Regional Manager: South America

Filipe joined Goldplat in 2017 to assist Goldplat’s marketing efforts in Latin America. he quickly took over the region and, in 2018, became the Business Development Regional Manager, allowing the company to relocate the expats previously allocated in South America to explore and develop the market. In 2022, after acquiring knowledge of Goldplat’s business and strategies, as well as growing his technical background, Filipe was appointed as the director responsible for the subsidiaries constituted in South America and for the project in Brazil that focused on replicating the successful operations from Africa in the new continent. Filipe is experienced in environmental management and international logistics. He holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and an MBA in Project Management from Sao Paulo University, both in Brazil.

Michael Kouassi


General Manager: Gold Recovery Ghana

Michael joined the group in 2011 as Financial Manager for Nyieme and Midas Gold in Burkina. He was moved to occupy the position of Financial Manager of Gold Recovery Ghana and assist the procurement team to develop the business in the French-speaking countries. In 2020, he became the General Manager.

Michael has built a strong relationship with several countries' mining administrations in West Africa. He was an auditor before joining the mining environment in 2008 and holds a MSc in Finance.
